The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies Formaldehyde as a known human carcinogen. Formaldehyde is also linked to asthma, neurotoxicity, developmental toxicity as well as known to cause nasal cancer.
Nails are the outer layers of the epidermis – ‘the skin’. Camphor is swiftly absorbed into the skin, crosses the placenta and has been implicated in foetal death and neonatal death (death of newborn children within the first 28 days of life). Other adverse reactions from skin absorption and ingestion can include hallucinations, convulsions and can even lead to coma.
Designated as hazardous waste by the US Environmental Protection Agency. Adverse reactions include: from inhalation, can cause drowsiness, headaches and dizziness; in high doses and exposure, can impair memory, vision and hearing; Toluene is known to cause asthma in previously healthy people; is toxic to reproduction; chromosome aberrations (changing the structure of your DNA, which can lead to Down's Syndrome) have been reported in the lymphocytes of workers exposed to toluene.
All Parabens can cause skin sensitization and contact allergies. Certain parabens have been detected intact in the breast tissue of women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Foetal exposure to oestrogenic chemicals and teratogens such as Phthalates in the womb, have been linked to fertility problems, child deformities, and cancer.
DBP (Di-Butyl Pthalate):
Foetal exposure to oestrogenic chemicals, such as Dibutyl phthalate in the womb, has been linked to fertility problems and cancer.
Known to cause contact dermatitis.
Xylene is a central nervous system depressant. Can cause skin, eye, nose and throat irritation, memory problems, gastro-intestinal discomfort and potentially kidney and liver effects. The International Agency For Research on Cancer Scientific Publication Series considers Xylene a possible carcinogen.
This chemical has been banned in the EU from personal care products, because of its antibiotic properties and concerns over its antibiotic resistance.
Has been labelled as a potential human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Is considered to be a known carcinogen and reproductive toxicant by the State of California Environmental Protection Agency (Proposition 65 List of Carcinogens). Can cause skin and eye irritation and blood and central nervous system effects. It is toxic by ingestion, inhalation and skin absorption. Presents a possible risk of impaired fertility and harm to unborn children. Banned from cosmetic products in Canada and the EU, due to its carcinogenicity and reproductive toxicity.
